The world of web & print design has specific lingo and concepts that are more or less familiar to some. We are commited to educating our clients along the way, and posted some general terms that we feel are important to be familiar with when starting any marketing project:

 

address bar -

The address bar is the input field at the top of the browser window that displays the location (URL) of the current webpage. The address bar can also be used to enter a new webpage location:

blog/blogging -

(a blend of the term web & log) is a type of website or part of a website. Blogs are usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. Blog can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

 
browser -

A web browser is a computer program that is used to access the web (to view webpages). A browser can also be used to download files, send and receive email, or short messages across the internet.

Commonly-used web browsers, in order of usage:
  1. Microsoft Internet Explorer

  2. Firefox

  3. Google Chrome

  4. Safari

  5. Opera

dreamweaver -

Dreamweaver is to html documents as Microsoft Word is to a text document. It's not the only html editing software, but it's the standard for professional web development... and we use it extensively.

 
flash

Flash is a plug-in and web development application from Adobe.
Files created in Flash can combine animation, sound and interaction and take advantage of a vector-based format to minimise file size and create rich user experiences.

 
html -

HyperText Markup Language is used to create documents (web pages) that can be viewed through a web browser.
